Volunteer AND Network!

Because we women over 40 fit so very much into our lives, combining networking and volunteering is a perfect match!  When thinking about how to network, think about the people you need to be around.  Who would ‘know’ your customer, who can you help by sending them business (we believe in paying it forward) and is it time well spent?

Some women we’ve met also have the ‘empty nest’ thing going on…  kids are out of high school or just plain independent.  Husband’s are gone in some cases, some of our friends are still married and have younger children to tend to and need some ‘adult time’  After years of dedicating our lives to our families… we’re alone.  How do we meet people??

  • Take your needs or your passions and search the web for an organization that needs your help.  Believe me, they will welcome your help!
  • If you’re looking for a job, volunteer for a group or organization that will put you in front of the industry you’re targeting.
  • If you’re single and looking for other singles, volunteer to help at events.
  • Love wine? Find an event planner that caters to wine events.
  • Can’ find what you’re looking for? Start something yourself! Go to www.meetup.com to create a group or event! We did it twice! For “All Night Happy Hour” and another for “Singles All Night Happy Hour” – They both tie into our ‘day job‘!

The editors here at FabFun40.com could easily be busy every day and every night of the week!  We volunteer at anything from wine tastings & major benefits to singles mixers.  We sit on the board of directors of both for profit and non profit organizations, belong to women’s groups and social networks.

Can it be exhausting? Absolutely!  But our goal is to meet people, to help people and of course, to generate a buzz about our site – and our day jobs at www.5milebuzz.com!   While we do stay busy, we also find a balance of friends, family and relaxation.
